At the Hofstra Arena on Sunday, June 22 almost 300 seniors from Division Avenue High School began the next phase of their lives as graduates on their way to college.
On Tuesday, June 3rd, dance teacher Ms. Alice LoGiudice was proud to produce and present the Third Annual Dance Recital at Division Avenue High School.
On Wednesday, May 28th chorus teachers Ms. Andrea Galeno and Ms. Marjorie Wade, dance teacher Ms. Alice LoGiudice, and music teacher Mr. Anthony Cornella escorted 40 students enrolled in the Division Avenue High School Music program to a dance workshop and matinee performance of "Gypsy."
The Music Department of Division Avenue was proud to be informed that Amanda Castanos, a member of the graduating class of 2008, was recently cast in a starring role of Spring Awakening, a play which captured the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2007
In keeping with a school-wide emphasis on career planning, students at Division Avenue High School students were recently treated to a visit from an engineer, Mr. Paul Granger, and architect, Ms. Jennifer Curtain, both from a Melville company, H2M Group.
On Friday, May 9th senior flutist and Marching Band Drum Major, Miguel Garcia was surprised by Director David Abrams during the Spring Concert when he found out he was awarded a $300 scholarship, provided by the New York State Field Band Conference.
The Division Ave. baseball team will be playing Clarke in the Class "A" County Championship next week at SUNY Farmingdale on Monday - June 2nd at 7:30, Tuesday - June 3rd at 4:30 and Thursday - June 5th at 4:30 (in necessary).
On Friday, May 9th and 16th the Division Avenue High School Music Department held their spring concerts with performances featuring the Symphonic and String Orchestra, 11/12 Chorus, 9/10 Chorus, Jazz Band, 9/10 Band and the 11/12 Band. The evenings were a huge success and not only featured beautiful selections, but highlighted the talents of the 47 graduating seniors.
On Tuesday, May 20th the DAHS Music Department was proud to present the Third Annual Guitar Recital. The recital represents an evening of eclectic music from baroque and classical to modern and rock. The students who perform in the evening are members of the Guitar II & III programs, under the direction of Mr. Anthony Cornella, at Division Avenue.
On Thursday, May 22nd, the DAHS Music Department was honored to host an in-house clinic with guitar maker/technician H. Travis Goldfarb. Over the course of two periods, Mr. Goldfarb spoke to the students of the Guitar I, II, and III programs about careers in music as well as about maintenance and care of their instruments.
On Monday, May 26th, the Division Avenue High School Marching Band was proud to lead off the annual Levittown Memorial Day Parade down Hempstead Turnpike.
On Tuesday, May 20th and Wednesday, May 21st, Division Avenue High School's Music Department was proud to send the 9/10 Chorus, under the direction of Ms. Andrea Galeno and the Jazz Band, under the direction of Ms. Jennifer E. Pierre-Louis, to the NYSSMA Majors Festival at Hofstra University.
On Saturday, May 17, 2008, Owen Jappen and Saad Syed won first place in the Health and Medicine category of the Northeast Regional Chemagination competition.
Division Avenue High School girl's varsity badminton team recorded an overall record of 10-2 in Conference IV making them "co-conference champions". The last conference championship for the girls varsity program was in 1989.
Congratulations to Division Avenue High School senior Samantha Finkelstein, who has received an award for her various activities as member of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America). Samantha received an award sponsored by Claire's Inc., a national women's accessory retail chain.

The Division Avenue High School Competitive Marching Band opened their competitive season this past weekend, Saturday, 9/15 with a first place win at the NYSFBC Competition at Sachem North High School.
The Division Avenue Competitive Marching Band kicked off its season during August with the annual five-day trip to Band Camp at Camp Lohikan in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.
