Division Avenue students fundraise for the AHA
In conjunction with Spirit Week, the 1st Annual Hoops for Heart Knockout Tournament was held at Division Avenue High School on February 28
. Student Council Vice President, James Reilly spearheaded the event and, with help from his fellow officers, organized a hugely successful fundraiser. Over 125 DAHS students gathered after school to participate in a ferocious, but fun-filled basketball tourney in support of the American Heart Association. The AHA's mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke; and charitable funds help to pay the cost of medicines and treatments for kids with special hearts. Division Avenue students solicited donations in advance of the tournament, and raised nearly $2000 for this worthy organization. The tournament winner, Ryan Birmingham, will receive an engraved brick on the Division Avenue Dragon Path. DAHS hopes to make Hoops for Heart a true "knockout" for years to come.
