A Message From The Principal
As you are well aware, the New York Giants recently capped off an impressive season with a Super Bowl triumph over the New England Patriots. Although I cannot claim to be a true Giant fan, I truly applaud their special victory and feel a sense of pride as a New Yorker. During their improbable playoff run, it became apparent that their strong team unity, ability to maintain their collective focus, and determination were paramount to their success. I believe that the Giants mantra for success is one that mirrors our own goals and success here at Lee Road.
Without question, our unity and cohesiveness as a school and community stand as the backbone of our success. Steadfast, the Board of Education, teachers and PTA are determined and committed to providing the best education for your child. At Lee Road, our committees allow our school to use a unified shared decision making model. Many of our committees are comprised of teachers, parents and in some instances, our students!
In our classrooms, as our children continue to expand their learning, our teachers remain focused on instructional improvement. During the year, we are engaging in a number of practices designed to improve the way we teach our children. Our current initiatives include: uninterrupted blocks of literacy instruction at all grade levels, on- going in-house professional development training with AUSSIE consultant Marilyn Scala and the adoption of scientific based literacy programs designed to assess and monitor student progress.
Moving past our 100th day of school, we look forward to your valued partnership in our work of educating the children of Lee Road School.
