A Message From The Principal

On behalf of our faculty and staff, I would like to welcome all Lee Road families “back to school.” Each year, our district strives to improve the quality of education that our children receive. With this in mind, we have made a few curriculum and instructional changes intended to enhance student learning. In mathematics, we have replaced our Harcourt Math series in K-2 with a new series titled, “EnVison Math.” The materials reflect upcoming changes in our curriculum and the new common core standards. It also has an enhanced technology component and accounts for differences in student abilities. The program also includes a remediation component. An informational meeting for parents regarding the program will be scheduled for early October.

This year, in lieu of our traditional library program, our students will attend a “Literacy Lab” taught by a certified reading teacher. The lab coach and a teaching assistant will provide lessons that teach beginning reading skills and the essential concepts related to reading comprehension. The lab, along with our scheduled blocks of uninterrupted instructional time and full-day kindergarten, will help us provide focused, meaningful teaching, intended to improve student performance.

Our community at Lee Road continues to benefit from our strong home-school connection. Our outstanding staff remains committed to working in partnership with you, our parents, to provide an outstanding learning environment for our youngsters. The Lee Road PTA plays an integral part in maintaining this strong alliance. Throughout the year, the PTA is busy helping to organize a number of programs and activities that help to enrich your child’s educational experience. Your membership presents a fine opportunity to stay informed and to actively participate in your child’s educational experience. I hope you will help us to reach this year’s goal of 100% PTA membership.

I would like to thank the entire Lee Road community for their support of our school and welcome your input in helping to make this an outstanding year!

Sincerely,
Anthony Goss
Principal
