Students at Lee Road School folded 367 paper cranes to help support their Japanese peers and the many victims of the earthquake that struck Sendai. The paper cranes were mailed to the organization Students Rebuild who pledged to send $2 for each paper crane folded. To date, over one million paper cranes have been received by the organization from all over the world. This outpouring of support has sparked a $500,000 donation which exceeded the initial promise of $200,000. The cranes will be woven into a future art installation in Japan. This will be a symbolic gift from students around the globe to the Japanese youth.
