MacArthur's Got Girl Power in STEM
Science Research students from MacArthur High School, Isabella Molina, Kimberly Mestizo, Corinne Jacobson, Alexis Avedisian, & Cindy Bardhi, attended the International Women's Day: Girl Power in STEM: Press for Progress! at Stony Brook University on Saturday, March 3rd. Dr. Friedman and Mr. Zausin have encouraged their students to attend events and lectures at the collegiate level. The symposium promoted the participation and celebrated the accomplishments of women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. Lecturers and panelists from academia, government and private sectors discussed with the participants the impact of women in STEM careers and what each of us can do to improve participation of womenin STEM fields. These young women will be our future scientists, engineers, and leaders.
