Six outstanding seniors from the Levittown Public Schools were recently recognized as Commended Students in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. Syed Ahmed, Emily Fuchs and Ravneek Kaur from Division Avenue High School and Julia Gizzo, John Hanna and Thomas McDermott from General Douglas MacArthur High School are among about 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who were honored for their exceptional academic promise.
The students placed among the top scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the National Merit Scholarship competition by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Although they will not continue on in the competition, some Commended Students can become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
The district congratulates all six students on receiving this prestigious honor!
