The Division Avenue High School marching band recently took home fifth place in the Small School 2 category at the annual New York State Field Band Conference Championships at the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University. Their original score and performance of "In My Reflection" earned them a score of 82.1.
The marching band, which consists of students from Jonas E. Salk Middle School, Wisdom Lane Middle School, General Douglas MacArthur High School and Division Avenue High School, competed against students from across New York State and were evaluated on their musical and visual presentation. With the guidance of band director Michael Bastone, the students began practicing their original performance during the summer.
"They are among the top competitive bands on Long Island and statewide and we are so proud to have them as part of the Levittown Community," said Levittown Curriculum Associate for Music Vincent D'Ulisse. "It takes the combination of all four of our secondary schools to build the success of this longstanding organization."
