It is a recognized fact that the Library Media Center is a vital facility in every school. The effectiveness of this facility is directly related to the manner in which it is used. Therefore, the students and staff of Salk should become acquainted with the accumulating store of knowledge and information. A variety of orientations for all grade levels start in September.

The Salk Middle School Library has a wealth of information in both print and non-print medias, contained within the curriculum and beyond. The Librarian is present to assist all students and staff in their queries.

The Jonas E. Salk Middle School Library Media Center strives to:

• Allow students to become effective users of information.
• Encourage reading for enjoyment.
• Encourage students toward independent research.
• Provide training in the skills that will permit each student to gain access to that knowledge and information.
• And provide resources that will help foster lifelong learning.
