Summit Lane School Library Media Center
Mission Statement
The mission of the Levittown School Library Media Centers is to create lifelong, independent learners who appreciate literature and are information literate. Our media centers support school curriculum and provide access to tools and materials for students and teachers. To accomplish these goals, Mrs. Rubinstein, the School Library Media Specialist is attempting to develop a collection, which will meet these challenges.
Remember, "Success for Every Student" does not stop at the classroom door, but is extended and fostered by a strong library program. Here at the Summit Lane School Library Media Center we strive to have an ever improving and collaborative program which meets the needs of our entire school community.

Book Selection
When ordering books with the buildings library book budget money, Mrs. Rubinstein chooses high quality books that are needed to support the ever changing and growing curriculum needs of our students and teachers in their efforts to meet and exceed district and state standards.
Additional Library Resources - The following programs are used to purchase new books and educational videos to enhance our ever growing and changing collection.
-
Box Tops For Education
The library collects "Box-tops-For-Education" which can be found on General Mills, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker and many other products. We have a poster hanging outside the library which can be referred to if you have any questions about the products that are included in this collection.
-
Labels For Education
Also, we collect "Labels for Education" which can be found on Campbell's Soup cans (including Chunky and Select), Franco American, Prego sauce, and V-8 products. To help out, please cut out any of these labels that you happen to have in your home and send them in to school via your child.
Storytelling Festival
Each spring, Summit Lane students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades, participate in a district-wide Levittown Storytelling Festival. Students choose an existing work of literature, such as a fairy tale, fable, or picture book, and work hard memorizing and practicing. In April, each participating student performs their story for a panel of judges in our library. The one student from each grade with the highest score represents our school and performs their story for the community at the Levittown Public Library. Since all participants are winners here at Summit Lane, Mrs. Rubinstein provides a pizza party in the library for all participants.
