Students in Lori McGill's second grade class shared the story The Missing Button during a lesson on properties and classifications. The children worked within their cooperative groups to sort and classify hundreds of different buttons into their respective property groups. After a lengthy discussion regarding the various properties of the buttons, the children realized that there were numerous ways to classify and sort the buttons. The next step will be to graph the buttons in their correct property groups. This was an exciting investigation and discovery lesson for these second graders.
