The Levittown School District once again held its annual Developmental Learning Classes (DLC) Holiday Party at Summit Lane. DLC are self-contained special education classes that educate children ages five through ten with developmental disabilities. The DLC classes have been taught at Summit Lane since 1990, prior to which they were held at Abbey Lane. There are presently three DLC classes at Summit Lane.

The Kiwanis Club hosts the holiday party every year. This year's attendees, in addition to Kiwanians Tom Mawn and his wife Mary, who have hosted the event for the past 15 years, included Superintendent Dr. James Grossane, BOE President Mike Pappas, BOE Secretary and Kiwanian Kevin Regan, and Summit Lane School Psychologist Dr. Sean Haggerty.

Conor Brennan, Connor McLeer and Cristobal Ulloa show each other their toys from Santa.

Also in attendance were adaptive physical education teacher and party emcee Mrs. Dano, teachers Mrs. McLaughlin, Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Cambronero, classroom staff, and, of course, all the children.

Marcos Guerra was happy to get a toy and sit with Santa.

Making a special appearance was Santa, who gave each child a gift (purchased and donated by the Kiwanis Club). The children had a chance to visit with Santa and sit on his lap. They also sang holiday songs, and each class was given a tray of cookies to enjoy in the classroom.

Daniella Adamo gave Santa a huge hug.

Thank you to the Kiwanis Club and everyone involved for making the 2011 DLC Holiday Party one to remember!

Conor Brennan loved his toy and was very happy to get a candy cane from Santa's elf.

Jorge Macias was excited to get a gift from Santa.

Jonathan Albano was very happy to sit on Santa's lap.

Heather Rizzo enjoyed visiting with Santa and getting a special gift and a candy cane.
