During the month of October, the kindergarten students at Gardiners Avenue School learned about pumpkins.? They were introduced to both fiction and nonfiction books on the topic, such as The Pumpkin Book by Gail Gibbons and The Biggest Pumpkin Ever by Steven Kroll. In addition, the children read about pumpkins in an issue of their Scholastic News magazine. The children also completed their own pumpkin booklets that showed how pumpkins grow as well as creating pumpkin related art projects.? One of the highlights of the unit was when the children got to pick their own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch that was set up at Gardiners and hosted by our PTA.
