At the Feb. 9 Levittown Board of Education meeting, students from East Broadway presented the progress made on their Native Garden project.
As part of a year-long service-learning project, students at East Broadway Elementary School in the Levittown Public School District teamed up with the Seatuck organization to create and nurture a Native Garden.
Students participated in an assembly and planning session to design how the garden would look. In November, staff and students from the entire building helped get the ground ready to plant in the spring. Once the warmer weather hits in the spring, students will start planting. With the help of students, staff, and the community, the garden will be cared for throughout the summer and work will begin again in the fall.
At the Feb. 9 Board of Education meeting, East Broadway students presented the progress of the Native Garden to families and administrators.
