DAHS Chamber Choir And Chamber Orchestra Perform For Women Of Distinction Induction Ceremony
Select members of the Division Avenue High School Chamber Choir and Chamber Orchestra were honored to perform on Oct. 26 for the 2023 Women of Distinction induction ceremony under the auspices of New York State Senator Steve Rhoads at the Plainview-Old Bethpage library. The ceremony recognized local women that make a positive impact on their communities. The diverse group included doctors, police officers, activists, and business owners. Among the honorees was Levittown's own Mary Lynn Borscht, mother of two Division Avenue High School alumni. The orchestra led by Mark Martufi provided music at the onset of the ceremony welcoming guests as they arrived. The choir performed the National Anthem and a featured piece entitled "What Happens When a Woman," by Alexandra Olsavsky that is "a song for the strong women of our world who seek to empower themselves by asking important questions."
Chamber Choir singers include: Ava Naeff, Syeda Nowroz, Alyssa Leshinsky, Monique Carandang, Fiona Kim, Gloria Domini, Harmeet Kaur, Samantha Murano, Katie Hellegers, Ceyda Nazli and Grace Love.
Chamber Orchestra players include: Elizabeth Albrecht, Nicholas Castano, Isaiah Faton, Mia Figueroa, Arjun Haridas, Eunice Kim, Isabella Montes, Ava Naeff, Francisco Reyes and Reana Sy.
