Pursuant to PL 99-457 and Section 4410 of the Educational Law, school districts are responsible for serving 3 and 4 year old children with disabilities. Committee on Special Education (CSE)

The Committee on Special Education is responsible for evaluating and determining eligibility for all students referred to it to determine need for special education services. In addition, annual reviews are held for all students who are receiving special education services. The Committee on Special Education prepares the Individualized Education Programs for each student. Section 504

Section 504 is a federal law designed to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Section 504 provides: "No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States shall, solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Chapter 408

Chapter 408 of New York State Education Law requires that each teacher and service provider who is responsible for the implementation of a student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), be provided with a copy of their students' IEPs. Additional information on Chapter 408

Transition Services

Levittown Public Schools is committed to providing our students with the information, services, and supports needed to shift successfully from school to adult life. In collaboration with students and families, our goal is to formulate a student-centered plan that addresses post-secondary education, employment and independent living.
