The MacArthur High School Science Olympiad team, on Saturday January 24th, took part in the Columbia University Science Olympiad competition. Competing against a field of highly motivated teams, from across the country, the MacArthur students achieved a strong showing across a wide variety of events. While the entire team performed admirably, specific recognition is owed to Alex Xu who earned a medal for his exceptional work in the hovercraft event. He, along with his partner Ramon Martinez (could not attend the event), successfully constructed a functioning hovercraft that met rigorous competition standards, highlighting the practical application of their STEM education.
