Student Performers Bring "13" To Salk Middle School Stage
Talented young performers showcased their acting, choreography and singing skills as they brought the coming-of-age story, "13," to the Jonas E. Salk Middle School stage on Jan. 8 and 9.
Featuring dozens of Salk middle schoolers who were adorned with student-led costumes and sets, "13" tells the story of Evan, played by Oliver Dimitrov, who is preparing for his upcoming bar mitzvah. Navigating a transformative period in his life, Evan must adjust to the social circles of his new school following a move to New York City. The play explores themes of friendship, first crushes, standing up to bullying and the transition to adulthood. "13," the only Broadway musical to feature a cast made entirely of teenagers, was the perfect tale for Salk students to passionately portray on stage. The cast also included Scarlett Alston as Patrice, Mikey Russo as Archie and Emma Klein as Kendra.
