Dear LPS Families,

As summer begins to wind down, I wanted to take a moment to warmly welcome you and your family back for the 2026-2027 school year!

It has been a productive and exciting summer throughout Levittown Public Schools. While more than 1,000 of our students participated in our outstanding summer programs, our facilities, maintenance, and administrative teams have been hard at work preparing our schools for the first day of classes on Tuesday, September 1st. We are looking forward to welcoming our students back into safe, updated, and engaging learning environments.

District-Wide Summer Improvements

If you've driven past our schools this summer, you've probably noticed a great deal of activity. Thanks to the support of our Board of Education and community, several capital improvement projects have been underway across the district, including:

• District-Wide: Asbestos abatement, brand-new flooring, roofing updates and renovations to elementary school 5th grade classrooms.
• Levittown Memorial Education Center (LMEC): Roofing repairs and additional lighting surrounding the renovated track.
• Division Avenue High School: Parking lot paving, a complete library renovation, and a brand-new Broadcast Room.
• General Douglas MacArthur High School: Roofing replacement, complete locker room renovations, and the creation of a new state-of-the-art technology classroom.
• Northside Elementary School: All new paving and a new basketball court.
• Salk Middle School:Little Theater renovation and new hallway flooring.
• Summit Lane Elementary School: A new asphalt recess play area.

Many of these projects have been featured on our district's social media channels throughout the summer, and we look forward to continuing to share updates as students begin enjoying these enhanced spaces. We will also highlight all completed summer projects during our September 16 Board of Education meeting. Families are welcome to attend in person or watch the meeting live on our district YouTube channel.

Continuing Our Commitment to School Safety

Providing a safe learning environment remains our highest priority. As previously communicated, we will begin this school year with enhanced security measures across the district, including the addition of armed security personnel on each campus.

To provide additional clarity, here is how this program will operate:

• How it works: Armed security officers will remain in vehicles stationed on school grounds. They will only enter a school building in the event of an active assailant emergency.
• Training & Vetting: Throughout the summer, we worked closely with Covert Investigations as they provide specialized training for these highly qualified current and former law enforcement officers.
• What families can expect: This additional layer of security is designed to strengthen our existing safety measures while preserving the warm, welcoming, and supportive environment that defines Levittown Public Schools. Day-to-day school life for students, staff, and families will remain unchanged.

Looking Ahead

Behind the scenes, our staff have been working diligently to put the finishing touches on every aspect of our program to ensure a great start to the school year. While we expect our printed district calendar to arrive in homes within the next week, it has already been posted to our district website for your convenience.

I hope your family has enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with relaxation, fun, and time together. We are incredibly excited to welcome our students back on Tuesday, September 1st and look forward to another outstanding year of learning, growth, and #successatLPS.
