Two students from Division Avenue and General Douglas MacArthur high schools in the Levittown School District were officially sworn in as Student Liaisons for the 2026-2027 school year during the Sept. 16 board of education meeting.

Rachel Maurer, a Division Avenue senior, and Elias Baloyo, a MacArthur senior, will represent their peers throughout the school year, sharing their perspectives and ideas with board members while relaying important information to their fellow students. During each meeting, Rachel and Elias will update board trustees with the latest happenings inside their schools.

Rachel is captain of the varsity swim team, a drum major in the marching band, a class officer, a Peer Leader, an officer in the Tri-M Music Honor Society and a member of the National and World Language honor societies. Elias is a member of the Business, Math, National and World Language honor societies and the cross country winter and spring track teams, for which he earned All-Conference accolades in cross country and the 4x800-meter relay and was named to the All-County team for cross country.

"What distinguishes Rachel the most is her visibility within our school community and her generosity with her time and talents," Division Avenue Principal Jeffrey Myers said. "Rachel does not simply hold leadership positions; she consistently shows up when the school needs her to."

"To say that Elias is a well-rounded and accomplished young man would be an enormous understatement," MacArthur Principal Joseph Sheehan said, "as he possesses and exudes all top-tier characteristics that exemplify the ideal member of Generals Nation."
