Salk Student Wins Mario Mignone Award
Congratulations to Santino Medina for receiving the Mario Mignone Award, given by the American Association Teachers of Italian.
Santino has been studying Italian with Mrs. Russo at Jonas E. Salk Middle School for the past two years. He received the award for demonstrating the qualities of a dynamic and passionate student of Italian. Santino is motivated and helps bring much enthusiasm to the classroom.
Dr. Mario Mignone was a distinguished scholar and tireless advocate for Italian language, literature, and culture. As the founder and longtime director of the Center for Italian Studies at Stony Brook University, he dedicated his life to promoting Italian heritage in academic and community settings alike. His legacy continues to inspire both students and educators who share his deep passion for Italian language and culture.
